Introduction

Nutrition has a vital role in supporting, strengthening the immune system and maintaining proper immune function. The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) has put a spotlight on the important role of nutrition in supporting the immune system relative to viruses.

The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic will have global effects on people and their nutrition, wellbeing, health and mental status, economies and food systems. A great challenge is going on as to how to combat COVID-19.

We think the guest editors would make an excellent contribution based on their expertise and their following paper:

Aims

This knowledge hub aims to be a resource for all members of the SUN Movement to get informed about COVID-19 developments, at large. It also sheds light on important links between COVID-19 and nutrition, hunger, health and food systems – by bringing together important updates, guidance, articles and opinion pieces, in its initial stage. Nutrition can’t wait!

Physical and Nutritional Wellbeing

These papers will provide research that concerns nutritional wellbeing (access and availability), physical activity and wellbeing, health promotion and wellness (e.g., when quarantined).

Scope

We invite original research papers, review articles, short communications, letter to the editor, and focus articles addressing recent advances related to novel coronavirus COVID-19. We also encourage authors to send a short abstract or tentative title to the Editorial Office in advance.

Significance

Contributions to this special issue will provide cutting-edge and timely topical research on managing and overcoming the impacts of the global Covid-19 pandemic.
